Dead battery? We will jump start your car on the spot so you can keep moving.
Call (801) 396-8259You turn the key and… nothing. Maybe a sad little click. Maybe the dashboard lights flicker and die. Maybe absolutely nothing happens at all. Your battery’s dead.
It’s annoying, but it’s usually a quick fix. A jump start takes just a few minutes once we’re there, and most of the time you’ll be driving away like nothing happened.
We hook our battery booster to your dead battery, give it some juice, and you start the car. That’s really it. Our equipment is commercial-grade, so it works on everything from tiny sedans to big trucks. Even those stubborn diesel engines that need extra cranking power.
Once your car is running, your alternator takes over and starts recharging the battery while you drive. We usually recommend driving for at least 20 to 30 minutes before shutting the engine off — that gives the battery enough time to build up a decent charge so it’ll start again next time.
If the battery won’t hold a jump, that tells us something bigger is going on. Could be the battery is completely shot, the alternator isn’t charging, or there’s a parasitic drain somewhere. We’ll let you know what we think is happening and whether you need a tow to a shop or if a new battery will solve it.
Extreme temperatures are the number one battery killer, and Utah’s got both ends of the spectrum covered.
Winter’s the obvious one. When it drops below freezing — and around here it definitely does, for weeks at a time — batteries lose a significant chunk of their cranking power. A battery that was barely hanging on in September is going to give up the ghost when January hits. We do more jump starts in December, January, and February than any other time of year. It’s like clockwork.
But summer heat actually does more long-term damage. High temperatures accelerate the chemical breakdown inside the battery. So the heat weakens it over the summer, and then the cold finishes it off in the winter. It’s a one-two punch.
If your battery is more than three or four years old and you haven’t had it tested recently, it might be worth getting it checked before the next cold snap rolls in. Just a suggestion from guys who see dead batteries every single day.
Start with us for a jump. If any of these describe your situation, you probably just need a boost:
If the car won’t start even after a jump, or if the battery keeps dying repeatedly, that’s a different issue and you might need a tow to get it properly diagnosed. We’ll tell you straight up what we think — we’re not going to keep boosting a battery that clearly needs to be replaced just to charge you for another call next week.
Dead batteries happen on their own schedule. Monday morning when you’re already late for work. Friday night when you’re leaving the restaurant. Sunday afternoon in the Smith’s parking lot. We’re available 24/7 because batteries don’t care what day it is.
